The Freedom of Shopping
I have to admit that living in the US has somehow awaken my deepest passion for fashion. Why? Simple. Size doesn't matter here. It doesn't matter if you're as skinny as those models or if you're as fat as.. obesed people (and I mean, obesed!), fashion in this country comes in all sizes.
Living in Indonesia, I have always been considered as an overweight person. I'm sorry to say this, but people sometimes can be somewhat shallow. Since my whole Indonesian environment is full of skinny (or as they would like to claim it, propotional) people, my self-esteem can be pretty low at time to time..
Then I went to Vegas. Suddenly sizes doesn't come in Small-Medium-Large concept anymore, rather it comes in numbers.. 4, 5, 6... 14, 15,.. 22, 23, 24,..
As a size-8, I gotta tell you, It feels darn good!! And those supposedly I'm-just-joking kind of comments about my weight? Never heard it here.
And so it happens. My sense of fashion has arose along with the discovery that I am not an overweight person in this country. Any style of clothes I like, it always comes in my size. Even shopping for bras is fun here! They got all different cups sizes haha.. D, double D, double F, you name it!
Unlike my previous shopping habit in Indonesia, I enjoy going to the mall or to small clothing stores to shop. In Indonesia, I hate shopping for clothes. Everytime my mom want to go to the mall, I refuse to come and just ask her to buy me some clothes that she think will look good on me. And so she always buy me clothes without me coming to the store. She have a pretty good sense of style (and size) 'cause I always end up liking all the clothes she bought me.
Why do I hate shopping in Indonesia? 'Cause the clothes that I like never comes in my size! Even Large is too small for me, yikes! No wonder more teenage girls have eating disorder nowadays.. Department Stores encourage them to! Anyhow, usually I end up shopping at the "women" department, which pretty much sell clothes for 30 years old and older women. Yeah.. Not my style. But I had to put up with it 'cause it's the only style that has my size. It sucks huh? Shopping is no fun over there!
Yup, one of the things I'm gonna miss from this country..
FASHION.
The freedom of shopping.

DRIE..... so agree with YOU!!!!!!! I wasnt into fashion when i was in jkt. Left it to mum and just wore it.. But in here.. MAN!!! can't stop buying them!! Next time you go back to jkt, next do them sizes. Well i'm size 12 for top and 10 for bottoms in next. Dunno what size is that in US. but yesss in here and there sizes arent matter! WE get the size from 6 up to 42!! LOL... Now im just experimenting with all the things. last summer i tried rock styles. loads of t shirts, jeans, slouch jeans. Now trying to be feminine. Got pretty tops with sequins ( is that how you spell it? LOL ). Need to buy more sandals with heels although im still in love with trainers (sneakers)..
Quite glad that i dont have to go back to jkt and have to shop there. Although theyve got like next, river island. They need to have gap there!!!!!

    Anyhoo..
my blog has changed again. was quite bored with the old template so i browsed around and got the template im using now!! The downside is theres no place to put the cbox!

    ENJOY SHOPPING DRIEEEE! xxx
