| Tersiksa Lagi |

| My Arizona Experience - A Short Reading For Fellow Witnesses |
Last Saturday, December 17th, 2005, our Indonesian book study group went to Kingman, Arizona, to preach the good news to the Indonesian people there. It was a two-hour drive with eight people packed in our expedition truck. Another car was the Intrieri's, four people and a baby was in that car.
Why Kingman? Well, brother John has some information from friends down there that there's quite a quantity of Indonesian people that might be interested on the Bible, and there's one brother there that is actually conducting a Bible study with an Indonesian man. Being asked for a friendly favor, the thirteen of us came to assist them for the day. We were all ready with our literatures, tracts, presentations, and zealous. We went from restaurant to restaurant, apartment to apartment, tying to meet and talk to our fellow Indonesians. Some responded positively, some didn't. But no matter how they responded, we were all enjoying the ministry and having a great time.
Here's a cool story. Remember earlier when I wrote that there's a brother conducting a Bible study with an Indonesian man? Apparently, the brother was having a hard time communicating with his Bible student, saying that the Indonesian man was not so understandable and that sort of became the primary obstacle in expressing themselves to one another. So he requested if we all could come by to the brother's place to meet this Indonesian Man. And so we went, planning to talk as much as we can to the Indonesian man about the Bible in our own mother tongue, reaching his heart.
There I was sitting across him, a tall old Chinese-Indonesian man, who looked awfully familiar. I asked him where does he live in Jakarta, and surprisingly his home is actually in my congregation's preaching territory back home. Well guess what.. Yes, I've met him before! I've preached to him once, sometimes eight years ago, when I went door to door with the Circuit Overseer that time. We were in his house for a good 30 minutes, and the CO did all the talking, of course. I remember this so well because it was my first time out with a CO, and shocking, he remembered me too! Can you believe that?! We've met 8 years ago in our hometown, and here we are again somewhere in the middle of Kingman, a small city with population 35.000, in Arizona, United States. How cool is that?!
Well, I think this experience tells us that our preaching work is spreading to the ends of the world. No matter where they are, there's always somebody knocking at their door, or talking to them while they're walking their dog at a park, or giving them a tract at their lunch break at work, or hey, calling them to share a thought from the Bible on the phone.

| kLePoNKuNinG -- THE NEW AND IMPROVED |
Hooray! I have finally started my real blogging days! I enjoyed writing on friendster blogs so much I've decided to make a new one, a better one. If you noticed, I have moved all my writings from my friendster blogs to this new blogspot. Comments are always welcome, or you could always leave me a short message on the yellow shout box I put on the sidebar. While making this blog, I have been made aware of the lackness of my blogging experience. I was amazed by the creativity my friends has revealed through their blogs. Compared to them, I am such an amatir! Boy do I need a lot to learn.. So, my friends, please pardon the limitations exposed in this blog. I will, however, keep on trying on making improvements, and I sure will appreciate all the tips, council, and support from you. Ganbatte!! |

| Happy Anniversary, Merin and Daniel! |
A day before his 7th wedding anniversary, my brother-in-law, Daniel, participate in the Las Vegas Marathon on December 4, 2005. Daniel ran the world famous Las Vegas Strip and through the Fremont Street Experience, with a total distance of 26.2 miles (42 km).
My sister, Merin, watched him took off from the start line at 6 am that morning. It was a cold windy morning, and apparently it was like that through out the day, which made the run even harder for Daniel. Around 9 am, my sister and I started tracking on Daniel's run. We hop in to our expedition truck and drive around following the marathon's track. We stopped and parked on mile 14, 17, and 19 to watch Daniel ran by us and give him all the supports we could. We went to the finish line at Mandalay Bay after that, of course, and wait for him with full excitement. When he passed the finish line, the giant timer-clock showed 6:01:13, but his chip time was 5:52:45 (there is a chip planted on every participant's shoes to timed their running accurately).
We are so proud of Daniel, finishing the 26.2 miles marathon is quite an achievement.. Even though his knee hurts and now he barely could walk, I think it's all worth it! Congratulations Daniel! And Happy 7th Anniversary, Merin and Daniel!

| My First Sake! |
Tonight I just had a Sake Tasting Seminar by Gekkeikan at Lee's Liquor Store, and it was actually the first time I tasted Sake. I think it's a delightful drink! My first Sake experience tonight was wonderful. It's free, very informative, and the best thing is.. they served us sushi! Lots of them! I love sushi.. and I think I'm starting to love Sake too ^_^The person who gave the 27 minutes lecture about Sake was a Japanese guy, he is the brand manager, and so he travels all around United States introducing this brand to America. I think his name is Satori (can't really remember with all that drinking haha). He knows a whole lot about Sake for sure. He explained about the process of making Sake, the taste, and the story behind each Sake. They gave us this really fancy folder with stuff inside it, such as Sake ads, articles and notes about Sake, and also Sake cocktail recipes .. This whole thing is just very impressive! There were seven different kinds of Sake served, all are Gekkeikan brand of course : traditional regular Sake, Draft, Haiku, Horin, Zipang, Nigori, and Kobai Plum. My favorites are Zipang and Kobai Plum. Zipang is a new product they're introducing, it's a sparkling Sake. Naturally fermented, Zipang is light and sweet with a burst of bubbles -- unique and delicious. It has 7% of alcohol, which is perfect for me since I'm not much of a drinker. The common alcohol in sake is 14-16%, and that's hard for me to swallow, it will literally take forever for me to drink it. The Kobai Plum is a lightly sweet sensation, I love the taste and the smell. I like Kobai Plum even more then Zipang actually. Notice what it says in the ad :
Gekkeikan Kobai Plum is a profusion of flavor as enticing as the fragrant plum. Wedded with California white wine, the essence of the most delectable plums creates a lightly sweet sensation. Perfect as an aperitif or dessert wine. Kobai Plum is best served chilled. The moment I tasted it, I knew that my sister will absolutely love it. She's pretty much like me, not so crazy about alcohol but loves those sweet light drinks. So after the tasting, I ended up buying a bottle of Kobai Plum, and check this out, a bottle of that delightful tasty Kobai Plum costs only $6.48! Plus 10% discount for those attending the tasting.. Wow!! The night just gets better and better haha.. Well, I really enjoy that Sake Tasting Seminar! And those seven cups of Sake surely guarantee one thing : I am so gonna get a good night sleep tonight! :) Good Night! --November 30, 2005 at 12:38 AM-- |

| lullaby of birdland |
Lullaby of birdland That's what I always hear when you sigh Never in my wordland could there be ways to reveal in a phrase how I feel Have you ever heard two turtledoves Bill and coo, when they love that's the kind of magic music we make with our lips when we kiss And there's a weepy 'ol willow He really knows how to cry That's how I'll cry on my pillow If you should tell me farewell and goodbye Lullaby of birdland whisper low kiss me sweet and we'll go fly and high in birdland high in the sky up above all because we're in love --- [ Sarah Vaughan ]

| crazy about Monday Michiru |
I am a big fan of Monday Michiru, a unique Japanese-American jazz musician. I love her music, and I am trying to collect all her albums, which are very rare and limited in Indonesia considering there's only about 5 albums available there. So anyways, could you imagine how excited I was when Monday Michiru personally replied my e-mails? I'd love to share with you my second e-mail I've send her, and her second reply to me. --- On Oct 29, 2005, at 4:17 AM, Edria wrote : Dear Monday, thank you so much for all the newsletters, I hope you keep sending me those so I can always know about what's new with you :) Going to your concert, watching you perform live, has always been my dream!! I really wish I can go to NY for your upcoming performance.. Anyway, just to let you know, I am currently living in Las Vegas, at least until the end of 2006. So, I will absolutely try my very best to make my dream come true, to see you perform.. while I'm in the states, you know.. So I would really really appreciate it if you could let me know again about your plans to perform at least 2 months ahead, that way I can save some money and plan a trip to where ever you're performing. I really want to see your performance so bad! Oh, and I finally be able to listen to your album "episodes in color".. LOVE IT!! My favorite song is "Send One Your Love".. I'm sure your upcoming performance on November 2nd will be a blast, I wish I could go there :( *crying out loud* Well, many success for you, Monday! You're the best! your biggest fan, Edria. --- And this is her reply the next day after I e-mailed her. Dear Edria: (What a beautiful name!) Thank you for your e-mail, I really appreciate your kind words. I'm glad you liked "Episodes In Color"! I will be performing on December 20th at SOBs in NYC, as well as somewhere in Chicago (perhaps the Hot House?) on February 17th. At this point, those are the only definite dates in the States. I know they are all far from Las Vegas, but perhaps one day we'll get close to the west coast. Best to you!
Peace, Monday Michiru ---
Wow! Now I'm obsessed to go to Chicago on February 2006! I'm so gonna try hard to save money and go there! It's gonna be tough though, I am an unemployed.. u_u' Anybody wants to donate..? --October 29, 2005 at 10:50 AM-- |

| VIVA LAS VEGAS |
Wow, time does fly! Suddenly, it's been three months since I got here.
They say that Las Vegas is the modern Sodom and Gomorrah with a lame motto "whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas". They say it's a horrible city to raise a family, where every twenty feet all you see is billboards with partial nudity advertisements. I suppose that's true, considering there are 4 families in my hall planning to move out from Vegas this year. Which is why this question pops out : Why am I moving here?
Believe me, if I can choose any city, Las Vegas would be the last to choose. I hate summers in Vegas, it's like five times worse than Jakarta. The dryness, the heat, eechh.. The thing is, my dear sister lives here, and I wouldn't possibly wanna live far from my own family in the states. We have a cozy home, a so-so car, and a cute fat dog named Endo. So to move here, everything is easier, less complicated, and low on cost. Besides, if I keep my association close and tight to the congregation, I'll do fine. It all comes back to ourselves, are we going to let this evil city lured us into wrong-doing?
Anyways, although Vegas is all that, there are things I like about Vegas. The people in the congregation, for example, are warm and kind. Well I know it's always like that everywhere, but in a sinful materialism-minded city like this, they earn a two-thumbs up don't you think? I remember when I first got here, I was auxiliary pioneering that month and still needed 14 more hours before the month ended in 7 days. The regular pioneers right away made arrangements for me everyday to go out service. They picked me up, drop me off, even take me to lunch sometimes.. And even though I didn't know them well at that time, we were all having fun and enjoying the good association.
Honestly, I don't know what living in Las Vegas going to make me. Will I completely fit in? Will I be Americanized? Will I lose my Indonesian character? Will I hate to come home? Well, let's wait for two years and see.
The conclusion, brothers and sisters, I will survive. I have to. Bring it on, Vegas!

| it sucks being sick |
I can't believe this is happening to me again. Just when I thought that I'm feeling better and healthy, the sickness came back like a thunder in the daylight. This illness is literally sucking all my energy! My sister is taking me to a doctor as soon as her work schedule lets it. Tell you the truth, I'm scared of going to a doctor here. First of all, you'll never know how much it costs, and this is the united states, they charges in dollar! Then, the medical examination is what frightened me most. Ooohh pleaasseee don't let the doctor do things I don't want to know.. Not to mention, what if the doctor finds my illness something serious?! I can't deal with that.. I'm still too young for anything serious! I know I know, I'm too paranoid. There's probably nothing serious in me, the doctor just gonna give me some medicine and I'll be fine.. Yeah, that's what I kept telling myself. But I can't help it, I'm so "bloody" scared!! My family generations have this kind of illness, on the females of course. So I'm thinking it's something genetic, and if I do have what my late aunt had and what my mom had, boy oh boy it's gonna be a bad day.. It sucks being sick!

| those non-successful stories |

You can't always get what you want. Well, duh! I guess everybody knows that. I'm sure everybody has their own failure stories, about those nerve-wrecking moments when you feel like you're the biggest loser in the world. Well I had mine, and it's an ugly story I tell you. I'm not gonna bore you with that story, not here not now. But let me share with you the moral of that story. I've learned, that even though you tried so hard and give all your efforts to reach your goals, the worst thing could still happen. Yup, you can fail. And if that happen, cry. Cry for a whole day, feel sorry for yourself, let all the people around you know that you're pathetic, but get over it in one day. The next day, put your head up to the sky and live with it. Sometimes when you try harder, you're just gonna fall harder. So just live with the facts that you're not that good, or you're not that successful, or you're not that smart. And you know that saying, that "everything happens for a reason"? Well, I believe that. I believe that every failure somehow brings a good thing, not necessarily a great thing, but a good thing. Something good enough to make you smile. --October 20, 2005 at 10:52 PM-- |
